Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Game progress — levels reached, scores, and streaks. Stored locally in your browser (localStorage) by default.
• Google account information — if a parent or guardian chooses to sign in with Google to enable cross-device sync, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. This information is stored securely in our database and is never sold.
• Player names and avatars — chosen by the user during onboarding. Stored locally and, if signed in, in our database.

We do not collect payment information.

2. Advertising & Children's Privacy

The free version of TypZoo is supported by advertising; a premium upgrade removes all ads everywhere. Any ads we show are contextual — chosen by what's on the page, never by tracking or profiling your child — and are served by Google AdSense using non-personalized, child-directed treatment.

This relies on COPPA's "support for the internal operations" allowance (serving and frequency-capping contextual ads), which does not require parental consent because no personal identifiers are collected or shared for advertising. We run no behavioral ad networks, share no personal information with advertisers, and never build advertising profiles of you or your child. We keep this policy current as ad serving is enabled.

3. Analytics (parental consent required)

Google Analytics is off by default and loads only after a parent or guardian enables it in the Parent Corner menu. Consent can be withdrawn there at any time; withdrawing prevents future collection but does not delete data already collected. This toggle governs analytics only.

Separately, TypZoo keeps anonymous aggregate counters (for example, "the typing game was played 40 times today"). These counters contain no names, accounts, cookies, IP addresses, or device details — nothing that can identify a person or a device — so they operate independently of the consent setting above.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To save and restore game progress across devices (when signed in)
• To display your name and avatar within the app
• To operate and improve the TypZoo service

We do not use your personal information for advertising (any ads we show are contextual, based on page content rather than on your data), sell it to third parties, or share it except as described in this policy.

5. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

TypZoo is a child-directed service intended for use by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian. We take the following steps to protect children's privacy, consistent with the FTC's updated COPPA Rule:

• Neutral age screen. During onboarding we ask for a birth year in a neutral, optional way — every answer (including "prefer not to say") lets the child continue, and the answer gates no content. It is used only to apply the strictest appropriate privacy treatment.
• No behavioral tracking or ad-profiling of children, ever. Any advertising on the free tier is contextual and non-personalized (based on page content, never on your child); premium is entirely ad-free. Analytics is disabled by default and requires explicit parental action to enable.
• Minimal data. A child can use TypZoo fully without signing in. Google Sign-in — the only feature that transmits personal information — is optional, intended for parents and guardians, and protected by an adult-verification step. We never condition a child's participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary.
• Parental rights. A parent or guardian may review or delete their child's information at any time via our contact page. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

6. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Game progress is stored in your browser's localStorage. If you sign in with Google, your data is also stored in our secure cloud database (hosted by Supabase on servers in the United States). Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

Per-session play statistics for signed-in users (scores, speed, accuracy) are kept for 180 days and then automatically deleted. Saved game progress (highest level, best scores) and anonymous aggregate counters are kept for as long as you have an account. You can request deletion of everything at any time via our contact page.

7. Third-Party Services

TypZoo uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google — Sign-in, Analytics (only with parental consent), and AdSense contextual advertising (non-personalized, child-directed). See Google's advertising & technology policies.
• Supabase — Cloud database and authentication

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, please use the contact method listed on our website.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

9. Cookies

TypZoo sets no cookies itself. When contextual ads are served, Google (as our ad vendor) may set or read a cookie or device identifier solely to serve and frequency-cap non-personalized ads and to measure performance — never to track your child across other sites or to build a profile. If a parent enables analytics in Parent Corner, Google Analytics may set cookies; disabling analytics prevents that.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of TypZoo after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
